Arts Camps

At Windward, we believe that the arts are an essential part of a student’s education and of the community. We also believe that the arts are accessible to every individual, no matter his or her background or experience.
 
Windward's Arts camps allow campers to explore their artistic potential in a fun and creative atmosphere. They are encouraged to pursue their creative passions and experiment with new ideas. Our arts staff comprises year-round Windward Arts faculty who are experts in their respective fields.

  • Dance Lab

    The Dance Lab, which earns its name by creating a safe space for young dancers to experiment with movement, provides opportunities for beginning and intermediate level students to bring their diverse backgrounds and individual movement interests into the studio in an exciting new format. This one-week camp will offer a range of dance genres (including Hip-Hop, Bollypop, and Salsa) to support students in building strong bodies, exploring their artistic voice, working collaboratively as members of a creative community, gaining an appreciation for dance as an art form, and discovering the amazing diversity in the world of dance from a cultural perspective.

  • Dance Intensive

    Windward Dance Camp is a one-week intensive that will serve as preparation for dancers involved in or seeking to enter intermediate-advanced level ensembles in the 2019-2020 school year. Windward faculty members and special guest artists will lead students in classes including ballet and modern technique, as well as improvisation and repertory.

    The goal of this intensive is to support young movers in their development by reinforcing foundational movement practices, introducing new ways of approaching technique and rehearsal, and to nurture their love of dance.

  • Visual and Media Arts Camp

Windward's Visual Media Arts Camp is an opportunity for boys and girls entering 5th–8th Grade to explore their artistic potential in a fun and creative atmosphere. Students are encouraged to pursue their creative passions and experiment with new ideas. Our arts staff is made up of year-round Windward Arts faculty members who are experts in their respective fields.

  • WRAP Camp

    WRAP (Windward Recording Arts and Production) Summer Camp is designed to give students a real-world, hands-on experience in how a professional music studio functions. Explore each aspect of recording a song, while learning what it means to be a studio musician, professional audio engineer, and producer. Throughout the program, we will cover the fundamentals of music production, basic recording, and mixing techniques and stress the importance of collaboration.

    This collaborative one week course is designed to educate and inspire the recording and production of music through recreating some of the biggest hits throughout the years.  By the end of the program, with technical training in Windward’s state-of-the-art facilities, students will be able to perform, engineer and produce their own songs.
