Entrepreneurship at Windward

Entrepreneurship at Windward prepares students for the ever-changing world and our new, global economy by giving them the experiences and skills to be resourceful, flexible, creative, and problem-solving leaders.

Our world is comprised of social entrepreneurs, political entrepreneurs, artistic entrepreneurs, and economic entrepreneurs. At Windward, entrepreneurship is a process that results in creativity, innovation and growth and is fully integrated throughout the 7-12th grade curriculum. Our hope is to instill an entrepreneurial spirit so that students embrace this spirit in their life after Windward.

Wicked Solutions

Wicked Solutions is a fast-paced, interdisciplinary elective which introduces students to ways of identifying and solving some of the most tenacious problems of the 21st century. In addition to familiarizing students to some of the most current models for contending with the increasingly challenging problems of our world, this class aims to provide students with a platform for developing, sharpening and practicing leadership and collaboration skills. Ultimately, students will learn and practice methodologies designed to yield innovative solutions for virtually any challenge be it entrepreneurial, global, organizational or personal. Much of the work of the class is done in teams and is grounded in research.

Buy it on the Bridge

Buy it on the Bridge fosters the entrepreneurial spirit among current Windward students by providing a forum for student businesses. Through periodic events, student entrepreneurs sell their original creations, learning about marketing, brand development, inventory, sales strategies, and over product design along the way.

Bain Consulting Challenge

The High School Case Study Competition is a five-week program that sees students charged with a real-life business consulting scenario sponsored by Bain & Company and UCLA's Department of Economics. During the Challenge, Windward students conduct surveys, market research, competitive analysis, and profit projections, all while being mentored by representatives from Bain Consulting and the UCLA economics department. In the most recent competition, students developed and presented to Riot Games a strategy for breaking into India's developing online gaming market. Judges are drawn from UCLA, from Bain and from Riot's executive staff.
Windward School is a 7-12, co-educational, independent day school in Los Angeles, California.
