On January 10, Ariella Salimpour '13 and Gabriella Salimpour spoke to Windward's Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship class about their startup, thumbroll, an app that helps medical trainees learn and review medical skills and procedures on the go. The app has step-by-step illustrations for over 200 procedures, and is being used by trainees in over 90 countries. thumbroll has partnered with Wash U., USC, UCLA, and a number of other top medical schools to create content, and has a thorough review process by top doctors before any content is published. Ariella shared with students all aspects of a startup, which included how the idea was born, financing, intellectual property, app development, strategies for managing a team, challenges along the way, and the ultimate vision for the company. Students had an opportunity to review the app, ask questions, and learn from this pair of accomplished young entrepreneurs.
Thank you to Ariella and Gabriella for sharing their time and expertise!
