Hats off to the Windward School Class of 2019, who celebrated their graduation with family and friends May 24 in a spirited and sentimental ceremony held in the Lewis Jackson Memorial Sports Center on campus, which was spectacularly transformed for the occasion.
The ceremony featured a range of performances, including speeches and musical performances by students, as well as an address from English Department Chair Emily Miner, who was selected by the class to speak.
Three student awards were announced during the ceremony: The Director's Awards, which were awarded to Meresa Garcia by Julia Coley, Director of the Prep Division, and Elan Molko, awarded by Kevin Newman, Director of the Collegiate Division; Class Valedictorian, which was given to Elyse Forman by Kevin Newman; and the Shirley Windward Award, which was given to Naomi Rubin by Head of School Tom Gilder. Named after the School’s founder, the Shirley Windward Award is selected by the faculty and awarded to the graduating Senior who most fully represents the Windward ideal of an engaged student who has actively contributed to the life of the School.
Congratulations to all of our graduating students and their families!
