Engineering Students Shine a Light on Injustice

Tasked to generate awareness in causes they feel strongly about, students in Max Nishimura’s Making and Engineering Design class created light-up projects as a way of generating action. The project, titled Shine a Light, encouraged students to inspire and inform onlookers, using interactive elements and lights to “shine a light” on certain social issues or injustices.

The projects were varied in both their focus and design. Students first shared the inspiration for their topics of choice, giving a detailed breakdown of their initial prototypes and any potential challenges they faced. They completed their presentations by showing off their final designs, using buttons, inserts, and motion sensors to trigger their various light-up functions.

Be sure to stop by the CREATE Studio Showcase on May 15 to see these amazing projects up close!
