The pursuit and implementation of new ideas has been a hallmark of the school for more than four decades, resulting in a relentless search for new and better ideas that have made Windward into a leading independent school and a model for academic progress.

Community
Partnerships are at the heart of Windward School, whether among alumni members of the Windward Network, active volunteers of the Parent Guild, or civic organizations in our neighborhood of Mar Vista.

Since its founding more than four decades ago, Windward has continued to develop and prosper thanks to those community members, volunteers, foundations, and other friends who have given generously to ensure the continuous advancement of the school.

Gabe Baez

Gabe Baez

Assistant Director of Technology

UCLA - B.A.

Although he’s worked at Windward since 1997, Gabe Baez has still yet to experience one day that’s the same as another. “Every day is different,” Gabe says. “We can go from changing batteries in a wireless keyboard to handling a network outage. The IT Department needs to be ready to handle whatever comes our way.”

The variety of work is just one reason that Gabe has stayed at Windward as long as he has. He’s also been motivated by the new opportunities he’s been given to develop and grow over the years. “I started at Windward right out of UCLA,” Gabe says. “I applied for the Library Assistant position and still remember getting a call from Tom Gilder to offer me the job. I’ve had many great mentors throughout my time here at Windward and am grateful to have been given the opportunity to take on my current position as Assistant Director of Technology.”

Gabe also credits Windward’s nurturing community for keeping him engaged. “I’m very happy to be part of the Windward community,” he says. “It's a place that you are happy to be going to work.”

And of course, he’s also honored to play a role in shaping students’ lives. “Getting the opportunity to help Windward in the education of the students is a great experience,” he says. “This year, I will have seen 22 graduating classes."
