Congratulations to Windward Freshman Juju Watkins for being named Los Angeles Times’ Girls Basketball Player of the Year! This is an amazing honor and comes on the heels of a phenomenal season by the Wildcats, led by Head Coach Vanessa Nygaard.

“She’s phenomenal,” Vanessa said. “Her potential is unknown. Combined with the incredible skill set she has, it’s exciting for us, for her, and women’s basketball.”

Watkins, only 14 years old but measuring 6 feet tall and growing, averaged 21 points and nine rebounds for Windward this season.

According to the Times, Juju was selected for the impact she made and her ability to perform consistently at a high level in games against top opponents all season.

Congratulations, Juju!
