On Thursday, May 8, the Windward community gathered on Foley Field for a vibrant and meaningful celebration in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. Hosted by the AAPI Student and Parent/Guardian Affinity Groups in partnership with TeachAAPI, the lunchtime event brought students, faculty, and staff together to honor culture, identity, and community.
A highlight of the celebration was a captivating performance by Kayamanan Ng Lahi, a Philippine folk and dance arts group whose mission is to inspire transformation through cultural understanding and artistic expression. Through music, movement, and storytelling—centered around the symbolic imagery of the bird—Kayamanan Ng Lahi shared the rich traditions and enduring spirit of Filipino American culture.
Translated as “treasures of our people,” Kayamanan Ng Lahi offered the Windward community a powerful experience rooted in history, pride, and resilience.
Thank you to all who helped make this celebration possible and to everyone who joined in honoring AAPI voices, heritage, and connection.
