United States and the World History Hosts Guest Speaker

Windward parent Amber Rainey joined Nick Winnie's United States and the World History class on Wednesday and Thursday this week to deliver a powerful guest lecture. In her talk, she focused on her experience visiting Ghana in 2019 for the Year of the Return, an event commemorating the beginning of slavery in what became the American South four hundred years ago. Her poignant, personal lecture engaged Windward's 10th graders on topics ranging from the Transatlantic Slave Trade to the social construction of race and the ongoing impacts of historical trauma on the African diaspora today.
