Community
Partnerships are at the heart of Windward School, whether among alumni members of the Windward Network, active volunteers of the Parent Guild, or civic organizations in our neighborhood of Mar Vista.

Since its founding more than four decades ago, Windward has continued to develop and prosper thanks to those community members, volunteers, foundations, and other friends who have given generously to ensure the continuous advancement of the school.

Spring Awakening Nominated for 2023 Jerry Herman Awards

This past December, Windward’s Theatre Area dazzled audiences with their performance of Spring Awakening. On Saturday, June 4, this special cast will be performing once again as part of the 2023 Jerry Herman Awards! The Jerry Herman Awards are a celebration honoring achievement and excellence in high school musical theatre in Los Angeles. One of only four schools invited to perform at the event, Spring Awakening also received a number of nominations for their spectacular production, including Best Actress (Yaya Toubassy ’24), Best Actor and Supporting Actor (Cole Kaller ’25), Best Tech Crew, Best Ensemble, and Best Production.

“We are thrilled to come together again to perform a musical number from Spring Awakening and so honored to be nominated at this prestigious event,” said co-director Jordan Fox. “We are so proud of our cast and crew for their artistry and dedication to this important story. Putting on this show was the highlight of our year and we feel so lucky to be able to revisit it with our beloved cast and crew. What a wonderful way to wrap up the year!”
