On Tuesday, Nov. 11, Windward families virtually came together for an event with PATH (People Assisting the Homeless). West LA. Participants learned about PATH’s work with Homeless Veterans and how they partner with the Veterans Administration. JJ Jackson, the PATH West LA Program Manager who is also a Vet, spoke to volunteers regarding ways that they can further engage and assist the veteran community, and more specifically during these unprecedented times.
Windward families stayed on to make treat bags and also to answer provided questions to learn more about Veterans Day in breakout rooms. Robin Pickett, Director of the Windward Network, said, “It was so wonderful to see our Windward students and parents engaged with each other and sharing stories about family members and friends who have served. Ashley Goodman (Director of Service Learning) and I were overcome by the sense of community, as well as the curiosity of our students and their desire to help make a difference.”
The School delivered over 200 treat bags to PATH West-LA! Thank you to all of our families who participated—your generosity is greatly appreciated.
