Windward Communications
On May 12, students in AP Comparative Government, along with their teacher Melanie Arias, had the opportunity to join a video conference with British Member of Parliament, Wes Streeting. These Windwardians, along with students around the world, came together thanks to the efforts of Sean Jacobsen, a teacher from New York who organized the gathering. Students, including Tess Levy and Berkeley Goldschmidt, had the chance to ask the MP questions. Berkeley inquired about how Mr. Streeting imagines UK/China relations shifting in the face of COVID-19, and Tess asked about how Streeting is making the most of being a member of the minority party (and Shadow Cabinet member) in a parliamentary system where the minority holds limited influence.
The meeting was a real end-of-year highlight for the Seniors who participated, and as Melanie put it, "Even though we would all much rather be together in class face-to-face, virtual learning has created new opportunities and forged connections that will hopefully enrich classes as we are able to return to campus."
