Congratulations to Aria S. ’29, who was recently named the winner of the 2024–25 AI + Sustainability competition hosted by Girls Who Code! The nationwide challenge invited students to design a prototype that demonstrates how artificial intelligence can be used to advance sustainability.
Aria’s project focused on climate-resilient architecture, using AI to develop smarter, more adaptive building solutions. Drawing on skills she gained through Windward’s robotics program, her 7th grade Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) project, 8th Grade coding curriculum, and the Global Online Academy’s Computational Thinking course, Aria researched current solutions, interviewed potential users, created a functional prototype, and designed a website to showcase her concept with 3D modeling and video.
We are so proud of Aria for combining innovation, design, and environmental awareness to make a meaningful impact.
