Middle School sports teams played in the Pacific Basin League (PBL) playoffs January 29 - February 2. The following is a summary of their impressive results:
8th grade Boys Basketball - The Class of 2028 won the PBL Championship for the second year in a row, defeating Crossroads in the semi-finals and Westside Neighborhood School in the final. Jackson H. '28 scored 26 points in the final and Walker D. '28 added 10 points for the Wildcats.
Royal Girls Basketball - The Middle School Girls Royal Basketball Team captured the PBL title, defeating Westside Neighborhood School in the finals, led by sharp shooting from 8th graders Mikaella K. and Alexie W. and several driving, left-handed finishes by 7th grader Katie S.
White Girls Soccer - The Middle School Girls White Soccer Team defeated Archer 3-1 in the final of the PBL Girls B Division. After a 0-0 first half, the Wildcats fell behind 1-0 before scoring 3 consecutive goals to capture the title.
Royal Girls Soccer - The Middle School Girls Royal Soccer Team won a thrilling semi-final in overtime on the road over Archer, 1-0, on a golden goal penalty kick from 8th grader Soraya Sabine. In the final, the Wildcats came out on the short end of a tough battle with St. Paul, taking home the silver medal.
Royal Boys Soccer - The Middle School Boys Royal Soccer Team finished its season with a narrow loss in the quarter-finals of the PBL playoffs.
White Girls Basketball - The Middle School White Team advanced to the final 4 of the PBL A Division Playoffs with an exciting win over St. Paul before falling to the Middle School Royal team in the semi-final.
