On Wednesday, Oct. 26, over 30 7th and 8th Grade families came together on the Bridge for our first Middle School Service Learning event of the 2022-2023 school year! Windward collaborated with our long time partners PATH (People Assisting The Homeless), an organization with the mission of ending homelessness for individuals, families, and communities.
Parent and student volunteers spent a meaningful and fun-filled hour assembling 200 Halloween reusable jack-o-lantern “boo bags” (filled with candy, arts and craft kits, and toys), creating beautiful art, and sorting/packaging both gently used and new costumes donated by community members. These spook-tacular treats, along with carving pumpkins, were transported to a local PATH family site for their annual Halloween celebration.
Windward parent Maureen Pollack commented, “Working in collaboration with fellow Middle School parents and our students to support PATH this Halloween is so meaningful. Teaching our students that giving back during a holiday focused around receiving aligns with the shared values that attracted our family to Windward.”
Thank you to our parent volunteers who helped execute the event and to our amazing Windward community for always bringing your best selves. We look forward to partnering with you on our upcoming events!
