Middle School Service Learning Donates Costumes for a Cause

Windward Communications

On Thursday, Oct. 24, Windward hosted its first Service Learning event of the Fall, the “PATH Spook-tacular Halloween.” In the weeks leading up to the event, the School ran a costume drive looking for new or gently used costumes to benefit PATH (People Assisting the Homeless). The drive brought in hundreds of costumes thanks to our wonderful Windward families. On October 24, Middle School students and families gathered on the Bridge to sort through the costumes and package them all up individually. Families also decorated trick-or-treat bags, made Halloween picture frames, and put together treat bags filled with candy and other goodies.

All of the costumes, decorations, and treats will be heading to one of the PATH family locations located here in Los Angeles. PATH will create a “Halloween store” filled with all of the donated costumes for families to be able to shop in, and the decorations and treats will all be used at their Halloween party. It will be a wonderful celebration for all - thank you to all the families and students who donated and came to our Service Learning event to help support PATH. Stay tuned for more upcoming events as the holiday season is quickly approaching!

Happy Halloween!
