For our last Middle School Service Learning event of 2020, our 8th and 9th Grade families partnered with PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) to spread holiday joy. PATH matched over 50 Middle School families with recently housed families within their organization so that we could help make their holidays brighter.
On December 9, Windward participants heard from members of the PATH organization to learn more about their work and their various programs across the state. We heard stories of families who have benefited directly from PATH, and Windward community members then had an opportunity to ask questions of additional ways in which they could volunteer.
After the presentation, some Middle School families stayed on to wrap gifts as a community while discussing other non-profits that they’ve worked with.
Waverly Paradox, Volunteer Manager at PATH, said, “Thank you so much to the amazing Windward community for planning this holiday event for our Family Commons site! It was wonderful to be a part of the virtual event, and I am excited to help deliver the gifts to the 50+ families who’ve benefited from your generosity.”
We’d like to thank everybody who took part in this event to make the holidays a little brighter for all the families at the PATH Family Commons location, including the parent volunteers who coordinated the gift drop offs!
