Chinese Corner Features Visit from Mandarin Alumnus Hunter Owen '10

Molly Hudson

To conclude this year’s Pop-Up Chinese Corner series, Windward welcomed a special guest—Hunter Owen (歐亨特 Oū Hēngtè), an alumnus from the School’s very first Mandarin class in 2010. A passionate Sinophile and former student of World Language Teacher Wenchi Yang, Hunter returned to campus to share his inspiring journey with current Mandarin students.

Hunter spoke about how Mandarin has continued to shape his life—from continuing his studies in college, to spending a year working in Beijing, and now applying his language skills in his role with the California state government.

The visit was a meaningful way to celebrate the real-world impact of language learning and the enduring connections within the Windward community. A sincere thank you to Hunter, Wenchi, and all who joined in making this event a memorable close to the series.
